World of Work/Entrepenuer Contest

 

WORLD OF WORK CONTEST
 
Eligibility: Grades 9-12

Team or Individual:  Individual
Registration Deadline: One week prior to event. If date falls on the weekend, the deadline will be the Friday before.
Description: Youth prepare a resume, complete an application, and participate in an interview to evaluate their job readiness and interview skills.

Awards:  Each youth receives a certificate and earns a blue, red or white ribbons based on the Danish judging system:
 
·         Blue (excellent): 90-100
·         Red (good ): 75-89
·         White (fair): 74 and below
 
The Senior Division blue ribbon winners may compete in State 4-H Contests in July.  Partial scholarships given upon funding availability.
 
ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONTEST
 
Eligibility: Grades 6-12
Team or Individual:  Individually or as a team of two.
Registration Deadline: One week prior to event. If date falls on the weekend, the deadline will be the Friday before.
Description: Contestants will present a business plan concept to a panel of judges. The concept should include the idea for a business, the purpose, target market, name, and idea of the finances needed to begin the venture. Youth may choose to present an idea for a proposed business, or an actual business they have started.
